Villages of Naranja
By Giggles Anderson
In the olden days,
it took a village
to raise a child.
Today,
community policing
has taken over the Village.
Four cops in two cars escort one 8 yr old home.
After nine.
Mama’s eye is dry.
Water been off for a while now.
Sara Lee ran out of cake.
Breeze pie was left behind.
Lost boys.
A dirty teen sits cuffed in the Cruiser.
His green tongue is headed to the Big House
for his First Supper.
Communion with the Bailiff.
Reunion with the Judge.
Redemption doesn’t know his name
and neither do you.
It is already too late.
If you think it is dark now,
wait ’til Jimmy turns 10.
